Also on Wednesday, French students from RCHS performed “Country Mouse and City Mouse” for the elementary school students.
On Thursday, Sebastian Jackson (mask-making), Christina Ward (clay), Cindy Mahan (sun prints), Jane Bowling Wilson (watercolor), Gail Herman (mime), Chris Johns (photography), Jane Livingston (slide show), and Lindsay Nolting (landscape painting) taught the students. Third graders visited Eric Kvames at Glassworks in Sperryville for a glassblowing demonstration, and high school Spanish students put on a play and gave a music/mood workshop.
“It is great that so many are willing to donate their time to do this,” said Mrs. Gubler. Other artists contacted for Artsfest said that the dates didn’t work for them this time but that they would be willing to come and do something with the kids at another time.
Mrs. Gubler said she thinks that Artsfest is very valuable and is a great experience for the kids. This was the second year for Artsfest, and it will continue again next year if there are enough volunteer artists and parents to make it happen again.
