Slate Mills resident John Kiser, the benefactor behind the recent Trash Free Rappahannock campaign, addressed the county Planning Commission last week concerning signs.
Kiser’s idea came about after he talked with teachers about having students make signs to put up in various locations in the county to urge people not to trash the roadsides.
He told them he had been advised they were the first step on the road to seeing if the idea is viable.
County Administrator John McCarthy said that the two main obstacles are with VDOT — where the signs would go and what kind of signs they would be.
Commission members liked the idea and urged Kiser to bring back a proposal. Kiser said he felt the issues of size and placement could be worked out.
