What is it that gives Faith Mountain its talent for turning things into gold? Cheri Woodard started a business in her home 21-years-ago that is presently the largest countrycraft mail-order catalog in the United States. This year Martin and Cheri Woodard took on the task of renovating the almost 100-year-old Sperryville schoolhouse.
The size of the behemoth project and the neglect the building suffered for many years made the task a daunting one. Somehow the Faith Mountain people have managed to turn the cavernous and deteriorated institution into a charming store that exudes a reverence for home, country life and handmade crafts.
One of the reasons they are so successful was evident last week by the number of employees outside working on the landscaping. Along wit. the official building crew were owner Martin Woodard planting native sourwood trees and oak leaf hydrangeas, Denise Dodson from the merchandise department watering plants with a hose, and Dana Pappas, chief financial officer, hanging signs.
