Orchestra and, in 1993, wrote “Odeylo,” a musical play that tells the story of “Mama Africa.” A CD of the soundtrack of that musical by the Black Heritage Orchestra stayed near the top of the World Music charts for one year. The group has toured in Africa as well as Europe. ;
For their performance in Rappahannock County, Russell, Katemann and Kera will be joined by Washington, D.C. - based drummer Lewis who recently played with the Sun Ra jazz group.
While here, members of the group will also be conducting workshops at the schools. This collaboration is being assisted bv the Curriculum Enrichment Committee.
