I believe a sewer system, with its water treatment plant could expand the town, and this might open it to developers. I would favor a solution to help the lots in the center of town, without changing the boundaries of the village. The motive for sewers and sewage treatment should be the well-being of those who’ve chosen to live here.
“Tourists like Washington for what it offers, which is a lot for such a small town. We can do a lot with innovation and , ingenuity to promote and enhance what we have. Right now, I think that 128 voters can’t finance turning Washington into a tourist destination. Change is inevitable, but for too long, countrywide, more parking lots, clear-cut building, and suburban sprawl have defined “change.” Change is also saving our scenery, preserving our history, and promoting what we have. The lifestyle of our citizens should be put first.
“There are things we can do to attract other things to town, such as establishing a regional arts center, but diversification of businesses is solely a matter for the private sector and would best evolve naturally.”
