“Because my paintings decorated the walls of my husband’s offices, people would see them and literally thousands of people over the last 20 years have told me they were good. When the opportunity to exhibit here, where there is such a large arts community, came up I decided to do it,” said Barbara Berman, of Rock Mills.
Her paintings, A Retrospective of Portraits and Landscapes, will be on display May 1 to 31 at the Rappahannock County Library with an opening reception on May 1 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Berman met her husband, Harold, a well-known dermatologist in Alexandria, in the Washington, D.C. area and married him in 1965. He encouraged her to start painting — something she had wanted to do.
