In a lengthy case last week in Rappahannock Circuit Court Jeffrey Bruce Weakley was found guilty of trespassing and ordered to pay a fine of $2,500 and court costs.
Weakley had been charged with trespassing and attempted grand larceny in a case involving coffee wood trees in Chester Gap. The trees are on the property of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Baker of Arlington.
The Bakers both testified that they had never agreed to sell Weakley the trees, even after persistent attempts by Weakley to get them to sell, and had never given permission for him to take the trees. Weakley said he had made an agreement with the Bakers at their home in Arlington after seeing the trees, which were already cut, lying on the ground on the Baker’s property in Chester Gap.
