Great things developing with the newly
formed Sperryville Gateivay Council
The Sperryville Gateway Community Council is
going great guns after just two meetings. Last
week they had DPuglas Morris, Superintendent of Shenandoah National Park, and Bob Moore, VDOT District Engineer, to speak at their meeting about information concerning funding and joint efforts available to the community to continue the gateway project.
They formed a gateway subcommittee to evaluate landscaping needs at the U.S. 211/522 intersection at Moore’s suggestion. They will meet within the month and report back to the council.
They are looking at developing a visioning process for Sperryville and have received information on special tax incentive programs for historic properties. They are also examining the need for tourist information on the Sperryville side of the SNP and possible funding or government support to businesses and communities who provide tourist information.
We urge citizens to get involved. The council meets the third Thursday of every month. For information, contact Tom Junk,* chair at 987-8617.
