On Friday, May 8 local audiences will have a unique opportunity to hear the Black Heritage Orchestra, featuring Mike Russell, an international musician with roots right here in Sperryville.
Russell will be bringing the Black Heritage musicians from Germany, which is thyir current home, to Rappahannock County for a concert sponsored by the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and thfc Community on Friday May 8 at 8 p.m. at The Theatre in Washington, Va.
The concert will tell the story of the black cultural heritage through music, blending elements of traditional jazz and modern rhythm and blues with ethnic African music, salsa, gospel, reggae, funk and rap.
