Hunt Harris
Sperryville
Harris is the director of the Ragged Mountain Resource Center in Sperryville and as such overseas and initiates programs having to do with environmental protection in the county.
He spends endless hours lobbying for clean up of roads and streams and is a tireless crusader for environmental issues in the county. He has also helped create a number of county-wide clean up programs the most recent of which was the Trash Free Rappahannock program.
Harris, through the center, is looking closely at agriculture and the environment this year and is presently working on bringing a series of agricultural programs to the county in the form of guest lectures at the Rappahannock Library.
Harris is involved in an ongoing effort to work with area residents in helping test the county’s ' waterways and in work- j ing to repair damage to streams such as his work ! with riparian buffers [ and other techniques. ■
Much of the work he ! does is volunteer. He coor- | dinates activities with such organizations as the ■ Piedmont Environmental Council, the Friends of the Rappahannock and others to ensure the county is kept informed about environmental issues statewide.
He is also a tennis ace and spends the warmer months coaching tennis.
