The Trinity Church Garden Guild is raising money to build a new garden on the Middle Street side of the Church, opposite The Inn, to beautify not only the Church, but also the most important street crossing in town. On Saturday, April 25 the day of the Fodderstack Race, the Guild will hold its first Great Spring Garden Sale opposite the Church entrance on Gay Street. Rain or shine, the sale will take place under the tents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vendors from the surrounding area will offer their finest plants for every aspect of the home garden.
A special feature will be Tomas Fernandez, who will display examples of his garden sculptures.
From 1988 - 1996 the Fernandez’ Beyond Forever Art Center exhibited both painting and sculpture on the grounds of the historic plantation in Leesburg. The art center also provided a teaching facility for both group and student lessons, as well as, tours to area art clubs and school groups.
During this time period commissions for several more churches were completed. Art work expanded from the pure esthetic to the functional, ie., altars, ambos, chairs and other complementing furnishings.
Fernandez exhibited his forged wildlife work in galleries across the U.S. including Shidoni in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Sculpture House in Carmel, Calif.
In 1993 Fernandez and his wife Bonnie became artist in residence in the mountains of the Blue Ridge in Syria. Their works graced the 150 acre retreat center known as, Rose River Christian Retreat
