The National Register of Historic Places lists ten spots in Rappahannock County (check the National Register Information System on the World Wide Web at (www.nr.nps.gov/nrishome.ht m), including the Sperryville Historic District. Barb Williams rediscovered that fact after she opened her shop, Links and Chains, and sought some hook to increase tourist traffic in the village.
“Sperryville is unique,” she said, “it is unusual to find seventy-eight contiguous historic buildings.” Sperryville boasts history in each one of those, there was Niger’s wheelwright job, a blacksmith, the hotel with its long and interesting past, a Masonic Lodge, and a post office and drug store, at different times, in the building
