BY PAGE ANN SMITH Rappahannock News Contributing Writer Hospice of the Rapidan is proud to host a benefit performance by The Washington Mandolin Quintet on Saturday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the hospice office in Culpeper. Teacher-musician Tom Espinola, a resident of Rappahannock, leads the quintet, which includes Chip Lamason, Charlie Knuth, Beth Pierce and Randy “One evening Charlie Knuth asked me how to put chords to a piece to create harmony. Once he learned how, be began to write four-and-five part harmonies based on traditional tunes, and before long, he had completed about 15 arrangements.
