Relay for Life

The Rappahannock Relay for Life is just a little more than two weeks away but its organizers already know that they can claim success. It is not just that they are prepared - and they are that. It is also that there are more than 40 teams of ten persons each signed up to participate in the relay. Those 40 teams and their efforts mean that Rappahannock County will be making a significant financial contribution to the fight against cancer.
The Relay will be held at the Rappahannock Elementary School, beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 21 and continuing through the following Saturday morning.
It marks the end of the fund raising campaign and is a celebration of the hard work which preceded it. It is a time to relax, to have fun, and to enjoy a bit of mutual self-congratulation. It is at the same time a commemoration of loved ones who have died of cancer; a tribute to those who have survived cancer; and a show of support for those who continue to suffer from cancer.
But the party is not over until it is over. There is still time to participate, actively and/or financially. The 40 or so teams are still raising money and would be glad to receive support.
