The preliminary development of the organization will be completed, hopefully, by the end of the summer, said Catron. He established an initial set of committees that will direct the organizational development through independent workshop/meetings, and then reporting back findings to the larger Steering Group. The Steering Group, coordinated by Bayard Catron, 987-8177 and Hallee Morgan 675-1599, will meet no more than five times over the next few months, with the next meeting scheduled for May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington fire hall.
The other committees are the Mission Statement Committee (contacts Buck Payne at 987-8303 and Alan Zuschlag at 937-6124) that will meet to revise the draft mission statement; the Committee on RCCA Structure (contacts Doug Ginsburg at 675-1599 and Marc Malik at 987-3155) that will develop the organizational approach; and the Outreach, Education and Research Committee (contacts Don Audette at 987-9261 and Jerry Ochs at 987-3311) that will develop criteria for identifying sensitive lands, research land use protection tools, and devise plans for public education and outreach. Finance and nominating committees will be established at the May 18 meeting of the Steering Group.
