• Jenny Stanley presented copies of the recommended 6th/7th grade English texts for review by the Board. The HoltReinhart series was selected because it covers more of the SOL curriculum than do the other four series reviewed, and has good interest level and readability.
• The Policy Subcommittee reported its approval of Section K of the Policies Manual, covering the use of school facilities. Subcommittee member Ron Makela noted that the policies do not permit payment to school employees by outside groups that may be using school facilities, and that following this policy will necessitate higher fees by outside groups for school facility use.
