A member of Hampton Baptist Church since April 20, 1930, she had taught in Vacation Bible School and had been director and teacher in the three year old Sunday School Class for over 30 years.
An active member of the Women’s Missionary Union, she was past president of the Hampton Baptist WMU; served as Hampton area WMU Mission action chairman and Mission Study leader; was a member of the Peninsula WMU State Executive Board Mission Council and the WMU State Executive Board Mission Action Council; and had been WMU of Virginia Mission Action chairman from 197176. She was past chairman and current facilitator of the Jeanette Pearce Group.
She had served on various committees at Hampton Baptist Church; was a member and president of the Bennie Russell Sunday School Class, and at the time of her death was Missions secretary, member of the Senior Adult Committee, WMU Churchwide Missions co-coordinator, and a member of the 1998-99 Nominating Committee.
She is survived by her husband, Chester L. Robbins; son and daughter-in-law, John and Patricia Robbins of Smithfield; daughter and son-in-law, Beth Robbins and Jimmie DeBergh of Washington; two brothers, Dr. Paul R. Garber of Hayes and John H. Barber Jr. of Jeffersonton; a sister, Virginia Garber Wood of Huntsville, Ala. and three grandchildren, Jonathan Robbins, Van DeBergh and Robb DeBergh.
Graveside services were conducted May 2 at Parklawn Memorial Park.
