aristocrat Lord Wessex (Colin Firth). The movie presumes a great deal, but when Will and Viola get together the movie turns into an exciting literaryerotic entertainment.
Judy Dench (Best Supporting Actress) plays Queen Elizabeth, a toughminded and witty woman, who frighteningly puts people on the spot and then enjoys having the last word. John Madden, who directed Dench in “Mrs. Brown”, pulls together poetry and act and we hear Will (Joseph Fiennes) and Viola speaking to each other in near-poetry, some of which sounds mighty familiar.
All in all, it’s a great romp that also won a Best Actress Award for Paltrow. RAAC will show this film at The Theatre on Gay Street on Friday, May 14 at 8 p.m. (PG 13, 113 minutes)
