As a native of Rappahannock County, having lived here the
first 18 years of my life, I am very proud of my heritage and roots. The county, even today retains most of its natural beauty and rural character because of the generations before me who chose and planned to keep it that way, however after reading an article in The New Yorker of March 29 where Patrick O’Connell of The Inn at Little Washington told Tony Horwitz that locals have poor language skills, dismisses their investment in its history and suggested that the town history needs to be revised for visiting guest.
There are a few questions I would like to ask Patrick O’Connell and the first being, what are the conditions of your home town and why did you leave to come to Rappahannock? If your native home town was planned so well and the language was so good I am surprised after you discovered Rappahannock that you didn’t return or look for another place to locate.
