Nothing is the same without Nuno, mv Italian grandmother. I think about her all of the time. She died approximately three years ago of breast cancer. It was a long struggle, but she finally passed on. I remember when Nuno used to attend all of our family gatherings. She brought a sense of peace and unity with her. Most of all, she gave everyone in our family an enormous amount of love.

A typical Bruno family dinner is incredibly chaotic. When Nuno was there, everything seemed to go a lot smoother, though. If the children were screaming, she calmed them down. If the kitchen was a mess, she cleaned it up as quickly as possible. If there was any problem, Nuno knew the solution.

Nuno always smelled of a mixture of perfume and her incredible home cooking. She appeared to have a halo over her head, and she always gleamed with pride. Her eyes were as young and beautiful as ever. The smile on her face could light up an entire room.

When Nuno cooked her famous ravioli and Italian cookies, I was in heaven. Every single thing she fixed was absolutely delicious. Nuno even taught my dad how to prepare tasty dinners. He can almost cook as well as she
