Workspace for Choreographers of Sperryville and the Center for American Places of Harrisonburg will jointly present a unique combination of dance, award winning books, and discussion Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Workspace for Choreographers.
In celebration of the relationship between art and places where we live, work, and visit, Workspace for Choreographers and the center for American Places are calling the event, Location, which serves as an appropriate metaphor for that relationship.
The featured event of the evening is a full-length dance performance by Cynthia Thompson, a professor of dance at James Madison University and a principal member of the thompson and trammell dance company.
Ms. Thompson will perform four major new works including the premiere of “Rock Time,” choreographed by Sharon Wyrrick of Sperryville. Mark Anderson of Ann Arbor, Mich., Robin Harris of Raleigh, N.C. and Mrs. Thompson choreographed the three other pieces. This performance is the culmination of a week-long residency by Ms. Thompson at the Workspace.
