p.m. Tuesday, according to Madison County Sheriff Erik Weaver.
“He handed a note to the teller,” Weaver said. “As they are trained to do, the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and they were able to give a description of the man and his car, as well as the tag number.”
Farmer was held in the Culpeper County jail without bond Tuesday night, according to Culpeper County Sheriff H. Lee Hart, and been charged with one felony count of attempting to elude law enforcement officials and one felony count of robbery.
Hart said officials wanted to stop Farmer before he got into town. ‘Nobody got hurt’
“The main thing is that nobody got hurt,” Hart said. “It was a successful effort for all law enforcement involved.”
Hart confirmed that the suspect was not armed and did have a “substantial amount of cash” with him.
Sgt. F.L. Tyler of the state police said that Madison County put out a notice at about 1 p.m. for a white Ford pickup heading toward Rappahannock County on Route 231.
