The number of voters casting ballots has steadily increased in Rappahannock since the 1996 presidential election. At that time there were 3,181 votes cast; in 2000, there were 3,513 votes cast; and on Tuesday, 4,050 voters made their choice.
Floyd Stilley, chairman of the Rappahannock County Democratic party, was one of the first to cast his yote in Washington on Tuesday morning. A Democrat for the last 40 years, Stilley said this was the most important election in his lifetime.
“I think the whole world is going to watch this election,” he predicted.
