Photojournalist and associate editor Chris Johns, 53, of Rappahannock County was named editor in chief of National Geographic magazine Tuesday. He and his wife, Elizabeth, and three children, live on a farm in Woodville. The appointment is effective Jan. 1, 2005 and makes Johns only the ninth full-time editor of the magazine in National Geographic Society’s 116-year history.
