We on Long Mountain Road have seen the start of the visitors from the north: the Red-breasted Nuthatch, Purple Finch, Pine Siskin and the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. Sara Lowry saw "snowbirds,” the Dark-eyed Junco, along with White-throated Sparrows. Joyce Able saw a Golden-crowned Kinglet close to her study window. And although recorded earlier this year on the Birds of Rappahannock list, we had the good fortune of seeing the Red-headed Woodpecker at one of our feeders.
