The paintings of Flint Hill artist Sandra Forbush will be featured in an exhibition at Long View Gallery in Sperryville entitled “Horses and Hounds.” The show will run Nov. 4 through Nov. 22 and there will be a reception for the artist on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Forbush is renowned for her luminous oil paintings of animals, particularly horses, hounds and the sporting life. Using the indirect layering technique of building up many layers of paint, she achieves a rich, jewel-like depth and glow in her paintings. Her paintings transcend renditions of animals as the personalities and emotions of her subjects radiate from the canvas.
