Freshly baked bread and homemade pies are among life’s simple pleasures; however, many of us don’t have the time or the inclination to prepare these comfort foods for ourselves.

Happily, there is now a place in Sperryville to get delicious baked goods just like Grandma made. The Apple Hill Bakery will be opening for business in the retail space located adjacent to the Comer Store. Owner Wayne Waller and his wife, Dorothy, known to many as the owners of Apple Hill Farm B&B in Sperryville are offering some tasty treats.

Wayne, who purchased the old bakery building at the end of Main Street, explained that the baking is done at that location and then brought to the building next to the comer store which has recently been undergoing renovations to house their retail space. The business is a family affair, with Wayne and Dorothy’s daughter, Eileen, and son-in-law, Lucky, helping with much of the baking. Former bakery employee, Josh, helps out as well.
