Key Club offered hot cider, and the Dance Team featured “space” ice cream and decorative lollipops.
Margriet Langenberg of Kievit Farm brought four of her beautiful horses, and she and her eighth grade son Sebastian offered pony rides. Enterprising fourth graders created a “Petting Zoo,” that featured dogs, chickens and hermit crabs. Kindergarten aide Stephanie Pressler brought her border collies, Queenie and Nell, who engaged the little ones with “frisbee tosses.”
An addition to this year’s celebration was a yard sale, with proceeds from the table rentals benefiting the school’s ongoing “Air Conditioning Drive.”
WCDS Librarian Ingrid O’Connor, with some expert guidance from local Fly-byNight used book store owner Pam Owen, ran an extremely profitable sale in the auditorium, with every style and subject of books imaginable for sale at rock-bottom prices.
