“We’ve done a lot of cooking over the years. When the bakery opportunity came up, it sounded like a good idea since the county has needed a bakery for several years. We were filling a need,” said Wayne.
At this point, the Apple Hill Bakery plans to be open 6 a m. until 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sunday; however, the hours have not yet been definitely set and may change.
In a related story, as owners of the Old Sperryville Bookshop, Greg and I recently attended an event in Washington D.C. where we were able to meet and sample pastries prepared by White House pastry chef, Roland Mesnier. Chef Roland was signing copies of his new cookbook, “Dessert University.” We couldn’t decide which we enjoyed more, the pastries or his amusing stories about the first families who have occupied the White House for the past 25 years.
