The weekend started on Friday night with a bonfire and the Homecoming parade at Rappahannock County High School. It was the first Homecoming held during a Varsity football season.
On Saturday afternoon there was standing room only at the new football field. Friends, classmates, parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents1—people of all ages— cheering for a team that has known its share of joy and pain this season.
They were there to watch the Panthers face Moore Catholic High School from Staten Island, N.Y. in a Rapp loss 6-33.
It is not easy being the first at things and it is certainly not easy being the first ball team in a sport that has been around for most of our lifetimes. These players have watched the game from a distance and now they are knowing it on a totally different level. It has become personal for each one on this team.
