residents remember him for his recent adventure into sustainable organic agriculture in Rappahannock County.
Cole invested millions into Sunnyside Farms LLC. which was based on farm land he purchased in 1996.
Since then he began building a top notch certified organic farm with several business outlets for its products.
It was during his time in Rappahannock County that Cole invested in the financially troubled Maui Land and Pineapple operation.
In 2003, Cole moved to Hawaii and was named CEO of that company.
Since then, according to associates of Cole, he has demonstrated a gradual declining interest in continuing the Sunnyside operation.
The 422-acre organic farm was recently listed for sale with local realtor Alan Zushlag of Armfield, Miller & Ripley, Fine Properties, LLC. for $7.5 million.
What’s next for
the schoolhouse?
Miller hopes that someone will be interested in the prominent retail location for future business.
“Right now I have got to re-group, and decide what will be best for the community,” Miller said.
