any. future businesses would not start until the end of the summer. “You can’t really start a business in the middle of of the season,” he said.
Miller is confident that the - property will be used for something else fairly soon. “Unfortunately this didn’t work, so we’ll move on,” Miller said about “Sunnyside @ the School house.” “The Schoolhouse property has proven itself as a retail spot for 30 years. Our most important thing now is to get the right mix.”
Miller is also making plans for the Schoolhouse building that used to be “Rae’s Place.” Many local residents were furious when Cole leased the Schoolhouse property, bought the popular restaurant, and eventually closed it.
Cole gave up the lease on that building earlier this June. Since then, Miller has rented part of the building to local non-profit organizations, including the Rappahannock Non-Profit Center, RappFLOW, and the Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance.
Rae’s former kitchen, however, remains in the building. Miller is currently communicating with the county health inspector about its future.
