Steven Spielberg’s “Munich” is much like reading one of John Le Carre’s exciting espionage thrillers. With remarkable depth, this tense and thought-provoking film details Israel’s deadly response to the murder of 11 members of its Olympic team at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Two were killed and nine kidnapped and murdered by a Palestinian terrorist group called Black September, as the world watched. One of the best films of 2005, RAAC brings “Munich” to The Theatre in Washington, VA, Friday, July 7, 8:00 p.m.
I remember well the surreal feeling as the event unfolded right before my eyes. It was difficult to understand that this was real. The television coverage was done best by Jim McKay and Peter Jennings and you will be reminded of this horrific historical event when you see some of that coverage from McKay and Jennings during a 15minute prologue in “Munich.”
