Looking Ahead
As principal, Mrs. Johnson’s foremost hope is to arrive at a 100 percent pass rate in the Standards of Learning (SOL) test. “I want to make sure all the kids who take the test pass it”, she says. Can parents help with that? They can, she says, by overseeing homework, and by making sure the children come to school. Improving attendance, she says, is a big step toward lifting SOL scores.
