Each assassination brings about a Black September reprisal even providing a rational terrorist who engages in an intellectual debate with Avner about how the Palestinians have resorted to the only methods left to them. They will wait generations to establish their home no matter how unattractive the actual land. But the determined Meir (Lynn Cohen) argues, in a line that sums up the film, that “every civilization finds it necessary to negotiate compromises with its own values.”
