Following the appointment of RCES Principal David Covington to the position of Executive Director of Human Resources and Instruction, the position for the RCES principal was posted.

Seven applications were received. Three applicants were interviewed by a team of teachers and administrators. The School Board interviewed two finalists. Following closed session at the end of Friday's School Board meeting the Board voted 4-0, with Aline Johnson abstaining, to appoint RCES assistant principal Carol Johnson as principal.

Johnson has served 18 years as an elementary teacher and five years as RCES assistant principal. She holds a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. A Rappahannock native and graduate of RCES and RCHS, Carol Johnson professes a great love for the school, its students, employees and parents.

"I have a strong staff," she said . "I look forward to being a 'leader of leaders' to provide an excellent education for our students."

The position ‘ of RCES Assistant Principal has been posted. Qualifications include successful teaching experience and a Post-graduate Professional license with the endorsement as Elementary Principal.
