They still are working hard but their work is hardly what it used to be.
Come August 1, Lorraine and Eugene Robson of Slate Mills will join a growing number of bed «>d breakfast owner-operators in the county.
Their establishment, Meadowood, is located on Route 707, about three miles off Route 281.
Their story, however, is one of change. The Robsons’ new vocation and lifestyle differ dramatically from those the couple left behind.
Eugene and Lorraine previously worked in Manhattan, N.Y., known as "The City” by residents in the Northeast. There, people poured in for work everyday: by car, bus, commuter rail, subway — even helicopter.
From their former Paterson, NJ., home, the couple shared the 15-mile commute by car — a 1 Vihour experience every morning.
She was a controller, he was an attorney.
They’d drive first to Lorraine’s office; Eugene then would take the subway Uptown to his office.
Lorraine finished work at 6 p.m., but couldn’t pick Eugene up until 6. Then came the commute home.
