Question: What is the role of the Water and Sewer Authority (WSA)?
Answer The role of the WSA, created in accordance with state law, is simply to be an agent of the county in building and operating a water and sewer facility. We do what we are instructed to do by the supervisors. This is one job—to build the Sperryville treatment plant. We can be given other related jobs by the Supervisors, but we can’t create our own work.
Other than decisions directly related to our job, we have no authority. For instance, we have nothing to say about who attaches to the sewer, that’s the health Department’s role.
