After that chance meeting, the Holschuhs corresponded with Bruce, soon to find that he had returned to New Jersey and was terminally Ul.
“The Holschuhs gave everything to us during that critical period,” Mrs. Robson recalled who at the time had never met the couple from Castleton.
The Holschuhs kept in touch with Mrs. Robson after the loss of her son; they encouraged her and husband Eugene to visit them in Rappahannock.
After visiting relatives in Annandale, Va. in November 78, the Robsons traveled to Rappahannock to meet the Holschuhs.
It was a rainy, dismal day, but the leaves still clung to dipping branches, and Mr. Robson recalled the brilliance of late autumn on the Shade Road.
The Robsons spent a day with the Holschuhs and promised to return. They did return every year, as often as they could, until they moved to Rappahannock last spring.
