I took a year’s study in this subject at the University of Michigan and further narrowed my specialty to water resources.
I was part of a small staff at the Department of the Interior under Mo Udall, helping to coordinate various agencies toward goals. I also worked on a new Federal program - the Land and Water Conservation Fund and expansion of the U.S. Park system. My work in these areas led to my being hired by the Izaak Walton League where I worked partly on the issue of Federal Water Control.
I worked as a consultant in various areas of state and federal water pollution control for the Izaak Walton League and EPA.
From 1972 to 1977, including some of the time I was a resident of Rappahannock, I served on the Upper Occoquan Sewage Authority. The supervisors evidently found out about my background and asked me to serve.
