The Robsons bought what they knew could be a bed and breakfast — then set out to make it one. They cleared briars and brambles to expose rolling fields, planted a big garden for fresh vegetables, and refurbished and/or remodeled the home insideout.
They consider their bed and breakfast a "new approach,” Lorraine says, because most of the decor is conventional, rather than antique.
The house, a chalet, is different from traditional bed-and-breakfast design.
Inside three guest rooms, thick carpets, big closets and warm wallpaper provide what Lorraine calls “homey touches.”
Outside, the Robsons say they offer Rappahannock: peeks at the peaks of Old Rag, plenty of property for hikes, wildlife, a stream and all the dear red sunsets a visitor can stand.
“It’s beautiful; It’s restful,” Eugene sighs. "If you were to envision something next to paradise, this area is it.”
