Choral concert date set
On Friday, May 16, 8 p.m. the Culpeper-Piedmont Choral Society will present its annual spring concert at the Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 S. West St. Music Director Lois Shanks has chosen selections from Brigadoon and The Student Prince, a George Gershwin montage and several other beloved favorites in addition to the sublime Faure Requiem.

Mr. Rappahannock beauty pageant
The National Honor Society of Rappahannock County High School is sponsoring a Mr. Rappahannock beauty pageant on Thursday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.
Interested contestants (grades 8-12) should contact Charlotte Magee at 937-4558 for additional information. Contestants will be judged on general appearance, creativity and talent.
Benefit auction at Amissville
An auction sponsored by the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the fire hall. For more information call Paul Poling, 937-5205.
Fire Department to hold auction
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department will hold an auction on Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at the fire hall. All donations will be greatly appreciated. For pickup service please contact Riverside Auto Service at 987-8264 or any member of the fire department. Tom Reese will be the auctioneer.
Spring Revival at Black Oak
Black Oak Regular Baptist Church, on Route 729, will be engaged in a spring revival beginning on Sunday, April 27, and continuing through Friday, May 2, at 7:30 each evening..
Evangelist Waldo F. Grandstaff of Virginia Beach will bring the messages. The pastor and congregation invite the public to attend.
There will also be special singing throughout the week. “If you are unable to attend please pray for the meetings and God’s word will touch hearts, bringing them to Christ before it’s too late,” said a church spokesperson.
Spring event planned
Washington Baptist Church will host its traditional spring event on Saturday, April 19, beginning at 10 a.m. It will include a bake sale, plant sale, box lunches, barbecued chicken, hot dogs, drinks, and Grandma’s Attic (a flea market). Donations for Grandma’s Attic or baked goods would be appreciated.
