The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad would like to thank the community for its continuing support.
In 1985, we had 187 ambulance calls and 135 fire calls. We were also busy behind the lines with fire training schools, CPR classes, EMT training and regular monthly drills and practices. Being prepared to meet the needs of the community is a continuous effort on the part of the members.
Events during the year included our first annual Truck and Tractor Pull. This was a very successful fund-raising event. Two pulls will be held this year. The first one is scheduled for May 31 and the second one will be on Aug. 23.
Our yearly carnival, auctions and circus also did well. Fundraising activities on Monday nights are paying on an apparatus loan. The on-going paper drive and monthly dances help to meet our financial needs.
