“It promotes a positive attitude. For instance, it’s easy to complain about the lunchroom and not do anything about it. However, we decided to do something about it by having a lunchroom contest to see who could keep the neatest lunchroom table among the second grade classes. It was a three way tie,” laughed Miss Wittl. “They took charge of this themselves. They were very conscientious to clean up on their own without me constantly reminding them.”
Vice president Mike Gilkey proudly stated, “Being a member makes me feel special because we can be nice to people and pick up things. Other people don’t want to do that. We get to wear a badge that says we care, too.”
Miss Wittl concluded, “I feel that since we know that I care about them and they care about me we have a very special class.”
