Comparing the figures from the two periods, Rappahannock’s real estate value increased by just more than 1 percent, its taxable retail sales by 12 percent and the total personal income of its residents by 17 percent.
In the same period, the state’s total increase was 12 percent in real estate value, 17 percent in taxable retail sales and almost 20 percent in personal income, according to information supplied by Mr. Graver.
On the other side of the equation, Rappahannock’s public school enrollment decreased by less than 3 percent, approximately the same rate of decline experienced in the state as a wnole.
