The Fodderstack
Each April for the last seven years, a wholesome community spirit and sense of cooperation have brought Rappahannock citizens and visitors together for the Fodderstack 10-Kilometer Road Race from Flint Hill to Washington.
Over the years, the day’s activities have grown. But throughout, they’ve brought enjoyment to lots of folks and they’ve given the county a chance to show off its hospitality. In short, it’s fun.
The race also constitutes an important fund-raiser for the Rappahannock Recreation Authority and its good works. Countless Rappahanock folks give their time and energy to make the race work. The details involved in publicizing the event, registering and timing runners, providing water and first aid, controlling traffic, etc. may not always be apprarent to the casual observer. But, the people who perfrom those tasks deserve the community’s heart-felt thanks.
