Upcoming Events Ruritan beef barbecue TTie 26th annual beef barbecue sponsored by the Amissville Ruritan Club will be held on Saturday, July 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Amissville carnival grounds, Rt. 211, west of Warrenton. Prices are $7 for adults and $3.50 for children.
Revival at Black Oa^ Black Oak Regular Baptist Church on Rt. 729 will be having revival services the week of July 13-17. Elder E. Wayne Thompson, pastor of Engleside Regular Baptist Church in Alexandria, will be guest speaker. Plan now to attend the meetings throughout the week, a church spokesperson urged.

4-H summer camps 4-H Junior Camp for ages 9-12 will be held August 10-14 at the 4-H Center near Front Royal. The cost for the week of overnight camp is $70 and registration deadline is July 2. 4-H Junior High Camp for grades 7-9 will be held August 20-September 3 at the 4-H Center. Old-fashioned picnic The Front Royal Department of Parks and Recreation and the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center are co-sponsoring a 4th of July Old Fashioned Picnic Friday, July 3, from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Center.
Designed as a family experience, the picnic will feature a variety of games for youth, a one-pitch softball tournament for youth and adults, bingo, water activities and entertainment. A highlight of the kick-off to the holiday weekend will be a concert by the Front Royal/Warren County Community Band, which is scheduled for the amphitheater at 8:30 p.m. Fireworks will follow the concert.

Story teller at Library The summer reading program at the Rappahannock Library, READiscover USA-Celebrate, continues on Wednesday, July 8, at 10 a.m. with story telling by John Cheat wood, professional story teller. Some of the stories he might tell are "The Snake Bitten Hoe Handle,” “Br*er Rabbit and the Tar Baby,” "The Big Toe” and “BFer Coon and th* Frogs.” Everyone ia invited to attend thiaevent... ........ Each week there will be storiea, crafta, music and contests. Children between the ages of 3-12 who haven’t already done so should come by or call the library (675-3780) so as not to miss any more of these adventures in summer reading. This program will continue weekly through Thursday, August 13, when the event will close with a performance by “Puppets by Pizzazz.” There will be no program on Wednesday, August 12.
Teen depression lecture A free lecture entitled "Teenage Depression and Suicide,” sponsored by the Mental Health Unit of Loudoun Memorial Hospital, will be offered Thursday, July 2, from noon until 1 p.m. in Conference Room I of the hospital annex.
