Leonard Joyce, the county’s engineering consultant, concluded that there is space at the Clark site, the state’s representatives confirmed, his findings,' and according to Mr. Gregori, that satisfied those permit requirements. Unlike the extension of the landfill secured by Mr. Forman last year, the space is not a lift for on-the-ground disposal, with the trash to be covered with dirt, but rather a new trench location below the area now being used, Mr. Gregori reported.
“Local politics aside,” he said, referring to a suit threatened earlier by adjoining landowners if the Clark landfill operates past June 30, “it’s the best option to take. ”
