Concert season
ends with ‘bang’
The Front Royal and Warren County Community Band will present the final concert of its summer series on Friday evening, July 3 at 8:30. The concert, which is part of the 4th of July Old Fashioned Picnic sponsored by the Northern Virginia 4-H Center and the Front Royal Recreation Department, will be performed on the stage of the Front Royal-Warren County Ampitheater at the 4-H Center. ,
Musical selections will include a wide variety of patriotic tunes and marches, as well as many of the light concert and show times that have become part of the Band’s repertiore. A special feature of the concert will be a fireworks display planned to coincide with the playing of the “Stars & Stripes Forever” at the end of the program.
Since its founding last September, the Community Band has performed five concerts for a combined total audience of more than 1200 local residents.
The Community Band, which is sponsored by the Giles B. Cook Post . 53 of the American Legion with rehearsal facilities and some equipment provided by Randolph-Macon Academy, has an active membership of approximately fifty musicians from all walks of life and ranging in age from high school to retirees.
Following the concert on July 3, the Band will resume its regular rehearsal schedule: the second and ’ fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the R-MA Band Room, July 14 & 28, August 11 & 25.
