Senior Master Sergeant
Maury W. Brown Jr., son of. Mr. and Mrs. Maury W. Brown of Rt. 1, Sperryville, has received his second award of the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal at Tan Son Nhut AB, Vietnam. The sergeant served during the Korean War. He attended Sperryville High School.
Revival services will be held at the Wood ville Baptist Church from Sunday, July 9, through Friday, July 14. The Rev. George Williamson, pastor of Mt. Lebanon and New Salem Baptist Churches, will be the speaker. The public is invited to attend.
15YEARSAGO RAPPAHANNOCK NEWS From the July 6, 1972, edition
Lois Yates, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Lester Yates of Sperryville, has been named to the dean’s list at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, for the second semester. She is a 1971 graduate of Rappahannock County High School.
The Rappahannock Lions Club installed a new slate of officers at a dinner meeting on June 28. Waller P. Jones of Culpeper, past governor for District 24-A, described the duties of each officer before administering the oath. The president is Kermit A. Weakley with Joel Daczewitz as first vice president. Second and third vice presidents, respectively, are Robert Anderson and Oliver Carver, James W. Coates is secretary-treasurer with Andrew M. Pennington as Lion Tamer and Wieland Johnson tail twister. Directors named were Luther B. Stuart and Lester Deal, first year, and Paul A. Nichols and Calvin B. Racer, second year.
